Job summary

Progress Rail in Reading, PA is hiring for Railroad Track Manufacturing & Assembly Associates. You will build full track panels, turnouts and crossings, following blueprints and change documents to customer specs.

Starting pay is competitive at $25 per hour with full benefits from day one, and opportunities to work with grinders, measuring tools and inspection equipment in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read blueprints and work instructions.
• Experience with measuring devices and gauges.
• Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/32" and document results.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow blueprints, change documents and work instructions.
• Assemble, fabricate, grind and fit rail components for final trackwork.

Key Job Elements

Following instructions from blueprints, engineering change documents and work instructions, the operations will consist of the manual assembly, fabrication, grinding and fitting together rail components such as frogs, switch rods, switch points, guard rail, and gage plates for final trackwork assembly.

Qualifications and Experience

• Prior machine or grinder experience preferred;
• Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision;
• Must be familiar with manufacturing environment, with use of industrial equipment and mechanics, and ability to use various hand and power tools and measuring devices for completion of work;
• Must be able to read a tape measure to the 1/32" and have experience using other instruments such as gauges, calipers, etc.;
• Must be able to read and write legibly and complete production reports with accuracy;
• Strong attention to detail with ability to inspect rail using measuring devices practices.
