Job summary

Chandler Industries is seeking an aerospace assembler for first shift. You will interpret BOMs, set up parts, and perform first-pass assemblies, inspecting your own work and collaborating with engineers.

Position requires 2+ years in aerospace assembly, blueprints and math proficiency, and ability to work in a fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment with adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of aerospace assembly experience.
• Proficient reading, writing, oral communication, and comprehension in English.

Responsibilities

• Assembles complex component parts by interpreting BOM, setting up parts, and completing first round parts without assistance.
• Inspects own and team work; responsible for workmanship quality.
• Trains others in the assembly department.
• Works with source inspectors and engineers.
• Uses various hand tools and equipment for simple and complex setups.
• Completes assembly operations including component, electrical, and final assembly.
• Maintains safe, organized work environment and 5S standards.
• Participates in Lean initiatives to eliminate wastes.
• Follows safety rules and PPE protocols.

Summary

Perform complex assembly operations without assistance. Must be able to set‑up and complete first round part. Works with team to inspect the team’s parts. Works with source inspectors and Engineers on projects.

First Shift: Monday through Thursday 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

• Assembles complex component parts by interpreting the bill of material, setting up the part, and completing the first round part without assistance.
• Inspects their own and teams work; Responsible for individual quality of workmanship.
• Responsible for training others in the assembly department.
• Works with source inspectors and Engineers.
• Works with both simple and complex set‑ups using various hand tools, equipment, fixtures and tools.
• Completes a variety of assembly operations including: component assembly, electrical assembly, and final assembly.
• Maintains an organized, clean and safe environment and maintains 5 “S” standards. Complies with safety rules including Personal Protective Equipment and OSHA standards.
• Participates in Lean initiatives eliminating wastes including overproduction, defects, transportation, waiting, inventory, motion, and over‑processing.
• Works with sealants and solvents, exposure to noise.
• Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Required Skills and Experience (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge, skills, and abilities)

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of aerospace assembly experience.
• Proficient reading, writing, oral communication, and comprehension in English language.
• Intermediate knowledge of blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• Knowledge of basic math including arithmetic and unit conversions.
• Must possess broad knowledge of, and the ability to operate hand tools such as measuring devices (tape measure, micrometers, veneer calipers), cordless screwdrivers, screwdrivers, nut drivers, center punches, hammers, crimping tools, drills, torque wrenches, torque screwdrivers, pneumatic wrenches, hydraulic hole punches, hand wrenches, ratchets and sockets, jib cranes, air operated manipulator for lifting and pallet jacks, and others as required.
• Must be capable of working in an industrial work environment.
• Cooperative attitude, shares critical information, and remains professional in difficult situations.
• Self‑directed; ability to work independently and within teams.

Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred or helpful)

• A and P certification (Airframe and Powerplant).
