Job summary

BARNES in Ogden, Utah seeks a sheet metal assembler to fit up parts into assemblies using fixtures, scribe, and grind to spec. You will pre-assemble with a resistance welder and braze for oven brazing, then finish with hand and power tools to meet customer requirements.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork. High school diploma or GED required; knowledge of brazing/welding is a plus. 2nd shift 3:30pm–1:00am with +15% differential.

Qualifications

• Regular attendance is required.
• Sheet metal fabrication experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• Work individually and in small teams to fit up sheet metal parts to assemblies using dedicated fixtures, scribe, and grind to fit.
• Use resistance spot welder to pre-assemble parts prior to applying braze for oven brazing.
• Use hand tools and power tools, such as hammers, metal forming dies, pliers, tin snips, and various grinders, to bring parts to customer specifications. Use calibrated tools and measuring devices to ensure parts meet customer specifications.
• Complete required paperwork and checklists.
• Perform work with a high degree of responsibility with an emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ability to work in teams of two or three to accomplish manufacturing goals.
• Capable of reading and understanding written instructions, procedures, and safety rules.
• Willingness and ability to learn and retain new skills.
• Compliance with general attendance standards is required.
• Sheet metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Experience with brazing, resistance welding, or fusion welding of sheet metal is a plus.
