ABB Installation Products – Portland, TN is seeking candidates for an on-site production role. You will read and interpret technical diagrams, operate shop floor machinery, and perform visual quality inspections to ensure targets are met.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one month or less similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request parts or supplies verbally or in writing.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual quality inspections.
  • Pack products with correct counts in boxes.
  • Label products and boxes.
  • Tape boxes.
  • Lift and carry boxes up to 45 lbs.
  • Monitor equipment operation.
  • Assist in training of new employees.
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion (5S).
  • Follow standardized work instructions.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing efforts.
  • Participate in Kaizen events.
  • Cover other positions as trained.

This position reports to: Production Supervisor __

Your role and responsibilities (Mandatory)

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the unit in achieving the set production targets by adhering to the systems and processes. Each day, you will use machinery and equipment on the shop floor. You will also showcase your expertise by reading and interpreting the technical diagrams/instructions for assembly of products/systems/panels.

The work model for the role is: on site

This role is contributing to the success of the ABB Installation Products - Portland, TN facility.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Visual quality inspections
  • Place product in box with appropriate count in each box
  • Label product and boxes
  • Tape boxes
  • Lift and carry boxes up to 45 lbs.
  • Monitor equipment operation
  • Assist in training of new employees
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion - 5S
  • Follow standardized work instructions
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing efforts
  • Participate in Kaizen events
  • Cover other positions following appropriate training as needed
