Job summary

John Deere in Paton, IA is seeking an Assembler to perform assembly, disassembly, and repair operations in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You will work from prints and specifications, set up processes, and ensure quality by checking outputs against specs.

You’ll operate hand and power tools, manage data records for quality and maintenance, and collaborate with teammates to maintain safety and efficiency on the line.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Good attendance history is required.
• Experience with mechanical or assembly processes is preferred.
• Ability to use basic math and measuring equipment is required.
• Basic computer literacy is required.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently and follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, bundle, and package parts to specification.
• Disassemble and repair assemblies.
• Work from assembly prints and specifications.
• Perform setups; work from part prints and job specs.
• Check results for conformance and make corrections.
• Record data for quality, maintenance, SPC, etc.
• Lubricate and clean equipment and tooling.
• Perform preventive maintenance and adjustments.
• Instruct and assist team members as needed.
• Move and position loads.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.

Pay: $25.75 per hour
Shift: 1st Shift, 6AM to 4:30 PM Monday-Thursday (Overtime possible on Friday, rarely on the weekend.)

Assemblers perform assembly, disassembly, and/or assembly repair operations in a team environment. In this role, you’ll contribute to a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on Safety, Quality, and Teamwork.

Types of Machines, Tools, and Equipment Used or Operated:

Varies by specific duties. May include: hand or power tools, conveyors, testing and runoff equipment, gages, grinders, riveters, arbor presses, hoists, hand and power trucks, dynamometers, tachometers, runoff machines, prints, fixtures, jigs, templates, clamps, and various other hand tools.

Job Duties:

• Assemble, bundle, and/or package parts to specification on a line or bench assembly operation.
  
• Disassemble and/or repair assemblies.
  
• Work from assembly prints and specifications.
  
• Perform own setups; work from part prints and/or job specifications.
  
• Check results for conformance to print and/or specifications, make any necessary corrections.
  
• Record data and/or keep records for quality, maintenance, preventive maintenance, SPC, etc.
  
• Lubricate, check, and/or clean equipment and tooling.
  
• Perform some preventive maintenance and equipment adjustments.
  
• Instruct and assist other team members as needed.
  
• Move and position loads.
  
• Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
  
• Maintain a safe work environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 35 lbs. repeatedly.
  
• Stand for long periods.
  
• Bend, stoop, walk, kneel, and perform other repetitive physical actions.

Required Safety Equipment:

Metatarsal boots, gloves, ear plugs, safety glasses, and face shield.

Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
  
• 1-3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.
