Job summary

Avidity Science is seeking an assembler to construct small to medium sized units from drawings and work instructions. The role requires reading blueprints, using gauging devices, and ensuring parts meet specifications.

You will also participate in setup, testing, and final inspection while maintaining a clean 5S workspace. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to adapt to changing tasks, and effective communication across teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience reading drawings, specifications and work instructions.
  • Ability to identify defective parts and perform final assembly inspection.
  • Proficient with measuring instruments and gauging devices.
  • Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, 5S compliant workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble small to medium units from drawings and specifications.
  • Recognize and address defective parts during assembly.
  • Set up and operate machines in the assembly area.
  • Perform final inspections and tests on assemblies.
  • Align parts to ensure smooth operation of moving components.
  • Enter labor hours into the company computer system.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly 5S workspace and assist other departments.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assembler.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform a variety of assembly operations to assemble small and medium sized units involving a considerable amount of parts.
  • Recognize defective parts.
  • Work from drawings, specifications and work instructions using required measuring instruments and gauging devices.
  • Perform final assemblies, inspect and test.
  • Perform fitting and aligning activities to ensure free action of movable parts and operating requirements.
  • Set-up and run machines in assembly departments.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment following the 5S standards.
  • Assist other departments as necessary.
  • Use computer to enter labor hours.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing and business tools, including Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written business correspondence.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments.
  • Ability to learn new concepts with general supervision.
  • Ability to manage commitments.
  • Ability to present an idea to a group.
  • Ability to interpret operating instructions or blueprints for assembly and wiring of product.
  • Ability to display a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn to set-up, run and troubleshoot new equipment introduced to department.
  • Ability to read policies, procedures, picklists, routings and work instructions.
  • Ability to count by hand or scale.
Physical Demands:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, and use hands to handle or touch. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear and use foot/feet to operate machine/fixtures. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach above shoulders.
  • The employee is regularly required to lift and carry up to 10 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. when lifting product from assembly table to test stand or fixture.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Personal protective equipment required to safely perform this job includes safety shoes, safety glasses, vinyl gloves and hearing protection when required. Hair must be pulled back and no jewelry may be worn when operating any power equipment.
