Job summary

Sandia Resort & Casino is seeking a WWTP Operator in Training to prepare individuals for a career in water/wastewater operations. The role focuses on learning to operate treatment equipment, collect samples, and maintain logs while complying with permits and safety rules.

Responsibilities include assisting in lift station operation and preventive maintenance, interpreting SCADA data, and supporting experienced operators on projects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; minimum age 18.
  • Must possess and maintain valid New Mexico Driver’s License; must obtain Water/Wastewater I certificate within 1 year 6 months.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening; CPR within 30 days and First Aid within 30 days.
  • Ability to read meters, gauges, blueprints and schematics.
  • Knowledge of pumps, valves, motors and control systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain water/wastewater treatment equipment; collect samples and log lift station activities.
  • Report failures or operating difficulties to staff; assist in lift station operations and preventive maintenance.
  • Interpret data from SCADA, gauges and meters; operate computers and generators.
  • Assist in projects with Operators I/II and Lead; support troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safety; respond to inquiries and maintain good public relations.
