KIPP NYC Public Schools in New York City is seeking an Associate Teacher to gain extensive development and hands‑on classroom experience toward a lead teaching position. You will share responsibilities with a lead teacher, gaining in‑classroom experience and professional growth.

The role offers a structured mentorship pathway, a one‑year teacher fellowship, and a tuition‑funded master’s program toward NYS teacher certification. Start in August 2026 with full‑time commitment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four‑year educational institution.
• Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment.
• Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
• Open to feedback and willing to constantly reflect, improve, and learn.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to support a curriculum that addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• When not conducting whole‑class instruction, use data to support small groups and individual students through an inquiry‑based curriculum.
• Plan and deliver daily small group intervention lessons.
• Provide coverage and ensure high‑quality instruction during the short‑term absence of the Lead Teacher.
• Work with guidance from the Lead Teacher to create a classroom environment that fosters learning and is developmentally appropriate.
• Observe Lead Teachers and engage in debriefing sessions to discuss classroom management and instructional strategies.
• Direct the learning process to achieve curriculum goals, setting clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
• Utilize a range of instructional techniques and media that align with best practices, specific content expertise, physical space limitations, and the needs of individual students or groups.
