Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is seeking an Apprentice Cook in Williamsburg, VA. This role provides long-term on-the-job training while you attend culinary school. You will learn by doing across kitchen stations and assist with banquet preparations, under moderate supervision.

Ideal candidates are culinary school students with some food service experience and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Entry into a renowned historic hospitality setting offers valuable hands-on exposure and growth

Qualifications

• Culinary school student pursuing on-the-job training.
• 6 months of food service experience.
• Ability to transport up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Have a working knowledge of culinary terms.
• Have a working knowledge of culinary rudiments and techniques.
• Be able to work all line level stations in kitchen as well as banquet preparation with moderate supervision.
• Demonstrate competency in breakfast cookery and basic food preparation including vegetables, starch, protein, and sauces.
• Create breakfast, lunch and dinner specials aligned with unit direction and food style.
• Prepare foods correctly for service per management standards and recipes.
• Prepare quantities using station checklists.
• Follow POS system prints and fulfill special requests to meet guest expectations.
• Maintain pace of service to sustain a steady flow.
• Understand and maintain food quality.
