Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or Equivalent and active enrollment in an accredited Cardiovascular Program.
• Minimum years of experience: None.
• Required certifications/licensure: CPR certification or within 3 months of employment; bi-annual CPR recertification.
• Required training: CEUs; annual safety and infection control training; competency in Echo and Vascular studies.

Responsibilities

• Supports learning the theory, principles and concepts of the cardiovascular role.
• Receives one-on-one hands-on training with a registered sonographer until competent.
• Aims to become registry eligible and attain registry within 12 months.
• Prepares to be cross-trained in Echo and Vascular labs within 24 months.
• Applies knowledge of cardiac anatomy to patient testing and disease states.
• Obtains brief histories and performs basic physical assessments related to cardiac conditions.
• Evaluates patients to determine appropriate testing needs.
• Maintains equipment and reports any malfunctions.
• Maintains professional rapport with the Cardiovascular Educator and staff.
