Job summary

Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional-ASPIRE (IDEA) to provide instructional and support services under teacher supervision in diverse classroom settings. The role includes assisting with academic, behavioral, language and physical needs to help students access learning.

You will support colleagues by maintaining data, collaborating with staff, and aiding in implementing IEP goals, test accommodations, and safety procedures across daily activities.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge and willingness to learn appropriate use of technology.
• Must have desire to work with students with special needs.
• CPI Certification, if required.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality of students and their records.
• Understand basic elements of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Responsibilities

• Communicate with teachers, staff, support services and students.
• Collaborate and foster teamwork.
• Maintain anecdotal notes and data recording as needed.
• Support students' social interaction with staff and peers.
• Assist staff with activities; monitor students during bus, recess, lunch, and transitions.
• Provide assistance during emergencies, drills and field trips.
• Implement behavioral interventions and modify materials as directed.
