Job summary

PCM Services in Laurel, MD is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead day-to-day field operations across asphalt paving and related site work. You will supervise crews, coordinate equipment and schedules, and ensure projects meet safety, quality, and budget standards.

This field-based role requires reading plans, enforcing OSHA rules, and communicating with clients and management. You’ll work nights and weekends as needed and mentor foremen to uphold professionalism on every job site.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising asphalt paving, milling, patching, or resurfacing.
• Ability to lead and develop foremen and crews.
• Strong knowledge of jobsite safety and OSHA standards.
• Ability to read scopes, plans, and site conditions.
• Flexible with hours including nights, weekends, and snow events.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors.

• Review project plans, scopes of work, and traffic control before mobilization.
• Monitor production, material usage, quality, and crew performance.
• Coach and develop foremen, hold the team accountable, model professionalism.
• Enforce safety standards and PPE compliance.
• Coordinate equipment logistics, use, maintenance, and returns.
• Maintain regular communication with project managers, clients, inspectors, and leadership.
• Proactively address issues and escalate where needed.
• Support snow operations during winter events, hands-on when needed.

Position Description

PCM Services is a growing commercial paving company serving the DMV market, and we’re looking for an experienced Superintendent who’s ready to lead from the front. If you know asphalt, know your crew, and take pride in getting projects done right - we want to talk.

This role puts you in charge of day-to-day field operations across multiple job sites. You’ll manage crews, coordinate equipment and materials, enforce safety, and make sure every project gets delivered on time, on budget, and up to our standards.

• Location: Field-based (limited office time)
• Schedule: Full-time; days, nights, and weekends as project needs require
• In-Season Hours: 50-70 per week
• Off-Season Hours: 30-40 per week

What You’ll Do

• Direct daily field operations across asphalt paving, patching, milling, resurfacing, sealcoating, and related site work.
• Manage multiple crews, subcontractors, equipment, and schedules simultaneously to keep projects safe, efficient, and on schedule.
• Review project plans, scopes of work, and traffic control requirements before mobilization.
• Monitor production rates, material usage, workmanship quality, and crew performance throughout each job.
• Coach and develop foremen, hold the team accountable, and model the professionalism we expect on every site.
• Enforce company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and PPE compliance without exception.
• Coordinate equipment logistics - use, maintenance, repairs, and returns.
• Stay in regular communication with project managers, clients, inspectors, and company leadership.
• Get ahead of problems before they become issues and lift what needs to be escalated.
• Support snow operations during winter events, hands-on when needed.

The Work Environment

This is a field role. You’ll be on active construction sites - roadways, parking lots, live traffic environments - where conditions change fast. Heat, noise, dust, and equipment are part of the daily reality. If that’s your element, you’ll fit right in.

Position Requirements

What We’re Looking For

• Demonstrated experience supervising asphalt paving, milling, patching, resurfacing, or similar field operations.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a field team.
• Strong working knowledge of jobsite safety, OSHA standards, and field best practices.
• Ability to read scopes, plans, and site conditions.
• Organized, adaptable, and a clear communicator - in writing and in person.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort with construction equipment and logistics.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and seasonal snow events.
• Able to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly and work outdoors in all conditions.
