Job summary

CRH in Tampa, FL seeks a skilled skid steer operator for road paving projects. Prior asphalt paving equipment experience preferred; candidate should operate equipment safely and contribute to a productive crew.

You will work in a team, follow safety policies, assist with general labor as needed, and report issues to the manager while helping with traffic control and site setup.

• High school diploma or GED; 1–2 years related asphalt experience.

Job description

Overview

This is a skilled position involving the control and operation of a skid steer machine during the road paving process. Experience with asphalt paving equipment/highway equipment is preferred. Other duties include operating a power broom, running grade control on a milling machine, flagging, and laboring when needed.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with safety policies and procedures using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Follow all company policies and OSHA regulations for safe procedures and environment.
• Report problems to the manager.
• Assist construction/paving crew with shoveling, raking, and running a wheelbarrow.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Follow directions of the manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each project or job site.
• May be called upon to run small power tools such as a jackhammer.
• Dig, spread and level construction materials.
• Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
• Assist in placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with asphalt paving equipment.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Thorough understanding of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, and other details related to asphalt paving.
• The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
• High school diploma or GED; one to two years related asphalt and road construction experience.
