Job summary

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or sitework.
• Proficient in the use of asphalt paver machines.
• Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, and follow project specifications.
• Strong knowledge of equipment safety procedures and standard operating practices.

• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently based on site and project requirements.
• Adjusts the handwheels or electronic grade controls to hit exact thickness specifications.
• Extends or retracts the hydraulic screed extensions to match the road width or handle curves.
• Watches the pile of hot asphalt to keep it at a consistent height and prevent sticking.
• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and project layouts.
• Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Work closely with laborers, foremen, and other operators to complete tasks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
• Follow company and OSHA safety standards, including use of PPE.
• Perform manual labor duties when equipment is not in use.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with asphalt paver equipment and a strong commitment to safety and quality work.

Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently based on site and project requirements
• Adjusts the handwheels or electronic grade controls to hit exact thickness specifications.
• Extends or retracts the hydraulic screed extensions to match the road width or handle curves.
• Watches the pile of hot asphalt sitting directly in front of the screed plate to keep it at a consistent height.
• Controls the propane or electric heaters that keep the screed plate hot so the asphalt does not stick and tear.
• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and project layouts
• Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections
• Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisor
• Work closely with laborers, foremen, and other operators to complete tasks
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times

• 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or sitework
• Proficient in the use of asphalt paver machines
• Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, and follow project specifications
• Strong knowledge of equipment safety procedures and standard operating practices
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and team-oriented mindset
• Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
• Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area
