Job summary

Branscome seeks a Roller Operator in Richmond, VA to operate a self-propelled roller for hot mix asphalt compaction. The role requires safe operation and adherence to site safety policies.

A high school diploma is preferred, with prior heavy highway construction experience valued. You will conduct daily equipment checks, ride on the machine platform, and follow site guidelines while supporting a teamwork-driven environment.

Major Role and Purpose

• Operate a self-propelled Roller with either steel drums or solid rubber wheels used for compacting hot mix asphalt.

Description of Duties

• Ensure a safe work environmentin compliance with all federal, local, state and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Rides on platform of machine and moves lever, pedals, or throttles to control and guide machine.
• Must be able to perform daily checks on equipment (i.e., hydraulic fluid level, greasing, oil levels).
• Use hand tools such as hand shovel, wrench, and screwdriver
• Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma preferred.

Work Experience

• Previous heavy highway construction experience preferred.
• Knowledge of compacting procedures dealing with different asphalt mixes.

Physical Demands

• Job requires the following motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting.
• Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Will be exposed to extremes of heat or cold weather.
• Overtime work is required.
• Valid Driver's License with transportation to and from job sites.
