Position Overview

This is a skilled position controlling production and load out of materials produced in plants. This position will work mostly in the Montgomery area. The plant operator is responsible for the efficient operation of plant equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform preliminary walk-around survey of plant’s crushing equipment to identify maintenance problems, preventive maintenance items, worn parts, emissions controls, and housekeeping issues. Operate levers to regulate flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, or storage bins.
2. Successfully initiate the plant’s start-up and shutdown processes. Navigate through computer screens for system operations, troubleshooting, reporting, and electronic communication. Ensure safety for all personnel and the public at the jobsite.
3. Monitor critical gauges and computer data to maximize plant productivity while maintaining asset integrity.
4. Assist in preventive maintenance and repairs, including lubrication and cleaning.
5. Support other operators or maintenance personnel with heavy or awkward duties.
6. Communicate effectively across all organizational levels regarding plant status, needs, issues, and efficiency improvements. Provide accurate, timely updates on daily operations. Proactively troubleshoot and maintain a safe, compliant work environment.
