Job Description: Plant Operator

APAC AL, Inc., part of CRH’s South Division, is a leading supplier of quality asphalt and Construction Services in the Southeastern U.S., with operations in Alabama. We work with government agencies, private contractors, counties, and municipalities to produce millions of tons of construction materials and pave many miles of highways annually. Our skilled workforce is committed to delivering high-quality products and services safely, timely, and efficiently.

This is a skilled position responsible for controlling production and load-out of materials in our plants, primarily in the Montgomery area. The plant operator ensures the efficient operation of plant equipment, performs minor maintenance, and reports major issues to supervisors.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct walk-around surveys of plant equipment to identify maintenance needs, worn parts, emissions controls, and housekeeping issues. Operate levers to regulate material flow.
2. Successfully initiate and manage plant start-up and shutdown procedures. Navigate computer systems for reporting, troubleshooting, and communication. Ensure safety for all personnel and the public.
3. Monitor gauges and computer data to maximize productivity while maintaining asset integrity.
4. Assist in preventive maintenance and repairs, including lubrication and clean-up.
5. Support other operators and maintenance staff with heavy or awkward tasks.
6. Communicate effectively across all organizational levels regarding plant operations, issues, and improvements. Proactively troubleshoot and maintain a safe work environment.
