Job summary

Hinkle Contracting, LLC in Owensboro, KY is seeking a Screed Operator to work on asphalt paving projects. This role involves operating the screed on an asphalt paver and making depth/grade adjustments to achieve a proper cross section.

Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work nights or weekends when required, and follow safety procedures. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with 2 years of screed operator experience ideal.

Qualifications

• Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical.
• Provide valid I-9 documentation.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license meeting state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2 years screed operator experience preferred.
• Read and interpret safety rules and operating manuals.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Operate screed on asphalt paver and adjust for depth and grade.
• Add/remove screed extensions as needed.
• Occasionally operate additional paving equipment.
• Maintain, oil, grease, and service equipment.
• Follow safety requirements and OSHA/MSHA regulations.
• Work in a team environment and assist crew as needed.
