Job summary

Sunrock is seeking an Asphalt Paving Operator in North Carolina to operate and maintain paving equipment, including pavers, rollers, and skid steers, ensuring precise grade and finish on roadway and site projects.

You will interpret grade stakes, adjust machine settings, conduct daily inspections, coordinate with crews, and maintain safety standards while working outdoors on varied schedules. Requires 2+ years of paving experience and NC license.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of asphalt paving or related heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must read grade stakes and follow project specifications.
• Proficient in safe operation of pavers, rollers and skid steers.
• Strong understanding of compaction and asphalt laydown techniques.
• Valid NC driver's license (CDL preferred).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork and quality workmanship.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt pavers, rollers, and skid steers to place and compact asphalt.
• Adjust machine settings for depth, width, and flow according to specs.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections and report issues.
• Ensure smooth finish and proper grade of asphalt surface.
• Coordinate with truck drivers, crew, and supervisors for efficient paving.
• Maintain a clean work area in compliance with Sunrock safety standards.
• Follow safety policies and mentor junior crew members as needed.
