Job summary

GAF in Newton, Kansas is seeking an Asphalt Operator I to support the Asphalt Yard Supervisor by monitoring, testing, and unloading raw materials. You will help with quality checks and keep accurate records during plant startup and commissioning.

The role requires safety-first work habits, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, operate pumps and valves, and perform basic maintenance. You will collaborate with Level II operators, follow procedures, and may travel to other locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Champion a safe and clean work environment and participate in safety initiatives.
• Unload asphalt/flux from railcars and trucks and test samples for quality.
• Monitor materials flow and assist Level II operators with pumps and valves.
• Perform basic maintenance and record daily transactions and inventory.
• Maintain yard cleanliness and environmental compliance.
