Job summary

ICES: Data, Discovery, Better Health is seeking a Lute Man to perform skilled finishing tasks on asphalt paving projects. You will use hand tools to create smooth, uniform mats and collaborate with paver and roller crews on-site.

Responsibilities include smoothing freshly laid asphalt, correcting surface irregularities, and assisting with material placement while maintaining safety standards and a clean work area on a daily basis.

Qualifications

• Proficient lute/raking skills and asphalt finishing experience.
• 1-2 years construction experience.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather.
• Strong attention to detail and quality focus.

Responsibilities

• Uses lute rake to smooth and level freshly laid asphalt before rolling.
• Works closely with screed and paver operators to correct surface irregularities.
• Assists with material placement and handwork in tight areas.
• Performs daily safety checks and tool maintenance.
• Participates in daily safety meetings and enforces safety rules.
• Helps load/unload tools and materials.
• Reports quality or safety issues to foreman immediately.
• Maintains clean work area and assists with site cleanup.
