Job summary

King Asphalt, Inc. is seeking a skilled asphalt finisher to match and finish freshly laid paving joints and to smooth surface irregularities with a lute.

You will spread asphalt to grade with lute and finishes before compaction, work nights when required, and follow safety rules while keeping equipment clean; experience with lute operation (3 months to 1 year) is expected.

• Restore surface finish after hand raking.
• Spread asphalt to proper grade with lute and finishes before compaction by rollers.
• Work nights and extended shifts when project dictates.
• Follow safety rules and keep equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The ability to smooth and adjust surface irregularities with lute.

The ability to restore surface finish after hand raking.

The ability to spread asphalt to proper grade with lute and finishes before compaction by rollers.

The ability to work nights and to work extended shifts when project dictates.

Follow safety rules and keep equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE:

The following of instructions, the ability to use/read fixed gauges, ruler and other adjustable measuring instruments where some interpretation is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Over three months and up to one year to become familiar with the operation of the lute to obtain desired results.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

Position requires the ability to grasp lute or shovel, to bed at waist, push and pull lute to spread asphalt. Position requires ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time. Such physical activity is repetitive in motion of the wrist, hands and/or fingers. Position requires the ability to perceive sounds and receive detailed information through oral communications.
