Job summary

Knife River is seeking applicants for a seasonal position in Minnesota. The role involves operating and maintaining a tack truck to spray bituminous asphalt cement oil on roadway surfaces. Good pay and benefits are highlighted.

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with Saturdays as needed. This position supports construction crews and requires safety-focused work on equipment and sites.

Qualifications

• General education, grammar and arithmetic; GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
• CDL Class B license in accordance with all state and federal DOT/FMCSA regulations.
• Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Safely and properly operates truck equipped with oil or bituminous emulsions.
• Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves lever to fill pressure tank with bituminous liquid.
• Regulate burners to heat liquid and start auxiliary pump.
• Drives truck at constant speed.
• Completes load tickets.
• Assist construction crews while waiting to unload
• Maintains proper information in truck cab pouch
• Inventory and order tac
• Clean tac nozzles
• Barricade commercial parking lots
• Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
• Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) on oil truck.
• Assist crews with flagging as needed
• Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
• Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

ROLE OVERVIEW

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITITES

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

1. CDL Class A driver's license
2. Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.
3. Preference given for experience driving a belly dump, flow boy, lowboy, tanker or straight truck.

COMPENSATION

$26.00 - $30.00 depending on experience.
