Job summary

Knife River Corporation in Minnesota is seeking a seasonal CMV driver to safely operate Class A or B trucks, hauling asphalt and aggregates to job sites and supporting site operations across weathered conditions.

You will maintain logs, perform routine maintenance, and collaborate with crews while upholding safety standards; the role offers year-round benefits and a strong team environment.

Qualifications

  • CDL Class A or B license is required.
  • Must have and maintain a medical card and acceptable driving record; endorsements may be required.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights and some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect truck for defects before and after trips and submit condition reports.
  • Maintain driver logs according to ICC regulations.
  • May operate loader to load aggregate into truck box.
  • Daily maintenance of equipment and vehicle cleanliness.
  • Ensure safety and environmental regulation compliance at all times.
  • Assist plant maintenance, repairs, setup and teardown.
  • Tarp loads when needed.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round

This position is responsible for operating a straight truck or tractor-trailer equipment and maintaining equipment properly in order to transport material to designated location in a timely manner.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

  • Safely operate Class A or B truck to transport asphalt or aggregate to job site often times driving on uneven or unfinished surface
  • Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition
  • Maintains driver log according to ICC regulations as required
  • May operate loader to load aggregate into truck box
  • Daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning truck inside and out, greasing, oiling, brakes, lights and any other maintenance instructed to perform
  • Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment
  • Assist with plant maintenance, repairs, set up and take downs
  • Tarp load when needed
  • Clean spilled material/buildup off box (spill chutes, belts, side boards, etc.)
  • Verify that gates are closed
  • Assist construction crews while waiting to unload
  • Spread product
  • Maintain proper information in truck cab pouch
  • Report information accurately and completely on daily timecards, truck cab information and other needed paperwork
  • Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)

As a successful CMV driver you will have:

  • A CDL Class A (tractor-trailer) or CDL Class B (straight truck) license. Preference given for experience driving a belly dump, lowboy, lowboy, tanker or straight truck
  • Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights and some Saturdays
