Job summary

The City of Chicago's Department of Transportation seeks a Dispatcher - Asphalt to staff an asphalt district office or the central office for asphalt operations, coordinating dispatch and administrative tasks to support field crews.

Requires two years of paving/repair experience, basic PC operations, and office data-entry skills. Standard schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, with a starting salary of $53.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience working in a field or office position involving paving and repair of street surfaces using asphalt materials and/or related equipment
• Ability to operate a personal computer and related equipment
• General office environment experience and data entry skills

Responsibilities

• Staff an asphalt district office or central office, handling dispatch/communications and admin duties to support asphalt crews
• Prepare daily route sheets and workload planning, track pothole repairs and asphalt usage
• Use 311-CSR system and Excel to manage service requests, worksheets, and productivity reports
• Schedule crews and resources for ongoing asphalt programs and resurfacing projects
• Respond to inquiries from aldermanic offices, public officials, and the public and close out service requests
