About the Role

The Norris Group, we help businesses and individuals thrive through expert tax, accounting, and business advisory services. We combine technology, disciplined processes, and a client-focused approach to deliver practical solutions and lasting value. Our team is committed to integrity, excellence, collaboration, continuous growth, and improvement.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join our Client Tax & Advisory Services team. This is an advanced tax role for a professional who is ready to take greater ownership of complex tax engagements while also contributing to client relationships, team development, and workflow coordination. You'll prepare complex returns, perform first-level reviews, research tax matters, work directly with clients, and help mentor developing tax professionals.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax knowledge with sound judgment, clear communication, and the ability to move work forward independently.

What You'll Do
Tax Preparation & Review
  • Prepare complex individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and other assigned tax returns and supporting workpapers.
  • Perform first-level reviews and provide clear, timely review notes.
  • Research and resolve tax matters within your level of authority and appropriately elevate complex or uncertain positions.
Client Consultation & Relationship Support
  • Conduct pre-engagement consultations and discovery meetings within approved scope.
  • Evaluate prospective client needs and identify appropriate service opportunities.
  • Develop preliminary service recommendations and implementation considerations.
  • Help transition clients from consultation through onboarding and service delivery.
  • Conduct follow-up after consultations and engagements and identify additional tax, planning, advisory, accounting, or other service needs.
Team & Workflow Leadership
  • Help coordinate daily assignments, priorities, handoffs, and status communication.
  • Mentor Tax Associates and reinforce strong tax procedures, documentation practices, consultation standards, and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate across the client lifecycle to support organized, responsive service delivery.
What We're Looking For
  • CPA or EA required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Progressive public accounting tax experience with complex tax return preparation, workpapers, and first-level review.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, local, and multistate tax compliance.
  • Ability to independently conduct client consultations and communicate service recommendations.
  • Experience coordinating work and mentoring colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments when appropriate to the assignment.
What Success Looks Like

The right candidate will bring strong technical tax experience, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service. They will take ownership of their work, manage priorities effectively, communicate confidently with clients and colleagues, and help keep engagements moving forward. They will be comfortable handling complex assignments independently, recognize when collaboration or leadership involvement is needed, and enjoy mentoring and supporting developing tax professionals.
