Job summary

BlazerJobs, Inc. is seeking dedicated Sign Language Interpreters to support deaf or hard of hearing students in school settings. Two contract roles at John Powers Center (Vernon Hills) and a Grayslake high school offer weekday schedules, with assignments through May 2027.

Responsibilities include real-time ASL interpretation, facilitating classroom communication, and collaborating with educators and families. Certifications with ISBE approvals are required or equivalents such as BEI/ NIC.

Qualifications

• Valid certification per ISBE requirements (EIPA or BEI/ NIC options).
• Experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to adapt in dynamic classroom environments and support diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time interpretation between students, staff and peers using ASL.
• Facilitate effective communication during classroom instruction, activities, assemblies, and events.
• Support understanding and engagement for students with hearing needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to optimize learning outcomes.
