Job description

Summary: The Video Medical Interpreter will cover a wide range of shifts to serve the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community and the practitioners that serve them in various medical settings via video.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide effective video remote interpreting services for consumers.
2. Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined by Stratus Interpreting.
3. Exhibit professional behavior at all times, including punctuality, preparedness, respectful interaction with colleagues and supervisors, and timely, accurate record keeping.
4. Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing technologies and best practices.
5. Participate in ongoing training, quality assurance, and call monitoring programs.

Qualifications:

• National certification recognized by RID.
• Strong aptitude and investment in customer service.
• At least 5 years of professional interpreting experience in medical settings.
• Extensive knowledge of the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
• Respect for and understanding of Deaf culture and community.
• Familiarity with state laws and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Preferred:

• Recent video interpreting experience.
• Recent medical interpreting experience.
• Working knowledge and experience working with Certified Deaf Interpreters.

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour, based on experience, education, and location.

Schedule:

• Part-time, 20-28 hours per week.
• 401(k) and paid time off included.
