Job summary

Sylvania is hiring a Temporary Educational Paraprofessional Specialist‑ASL Interpreter in the United States. This role requires fluency in American Sign Language and aims to support the educational needs of deaf and hard of hearing students through direct supervision and assistance in classrooms. Responsibilities also include interpreting for extracurricular activities and ensuring effective communication among students and staff. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and prior experience with children. This is a temporary position with benefits, lasting until June 11, 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience (paid or volunteer) with school-age children is required.
• Must have achieved a passing score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA).

Responsibilities

• Assist deaf or hard of hearing students in the classroom.
• Interpret lessons and facilitate communication between students and teachers.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure a safe learning environment.
