Job summary

Qualifications

• Fluency in ASL and spoken English.

• Active RID/NAD certification or equivalent state licensure.
• Deep understanding of Deaf culture and nuances of the Deaf community.
• Excellent listening, memory, and concentration skills.
• Professionalism and impartiality in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality ASL interpretation (voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice).
• Translate spoken language into sign language and vice versa, preserving meaning and nuance.
• Prepare for assignments by researching terminology for specific settings.
• Adhere to RID Code of Professional Conduct and maintain confidentiality.
• Collaborate with clients and staff to ensure a conducive communication environment.
• Assess consumer communication needs and adjust interpretation style as needed.
