Job summary

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) is seeking a School Social Worker at the Michigan School for the Deaf (MSD) in Flint to support Deaf or hard of hearing students under the IEP and FAPE framework.

Responsibilities include direct and indirect student services within a multidisciplinary team, with ASL/English bilingual support and credentialed School Social Worker certification as required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work required.
• ASL ability required to communicate with Deaf students.
• Must hold one of the School Social Worker certifications or approvals listed in the job spec.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct social work services to Deaf or hard of hearing students as identified in the IEP.
• Provide indirect support to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
• Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation team to support FAPE.
