Job summary

Murray Independent Schools seeks an ASL Interpreter to join our educational team immediately. The role involves interpreting English and sign language in classrooms, meetings, and school activities to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Applicants must hold a relevant degree and NAD/RID certification, with at least two years’ experience in education, and pass criminal background checks and health screenings as required by policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in interpreting, education or related field required.
• NAD IV - Advanced or NAD V - Master certification or RID certification recognized by Kentucky statutes.
• Minimum of two years’ experience interpreting in educational settings with documentation.
• Criminal background check and health requirements as per district policy.

Responsibilities

• Interpret English and signed concepts for students, staff and visitors.
• Attend classes with deaf and hard-of-hearing students to interpret lectures.
• Interpret at meetings, field trips, and other school activities.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to support communication accessibility.
• Support the Education Team and participate in relevant professional development.
