Job summary

The Opportunity

As an ASL Direct Support Professional, you will do far more than provide daily assistance. You will be a mentor, teacher, guide, and advocate for individuals with I/DD, helping them build independence, confidence, and strong connections in their communities.

This is a hands-on role where you will use ASL every day, support people in real-life situations, and see the impact of your work immediately. If you have experience as a caregiver, home health aide, PCA, CNA, teacher's aide, youth mentor, or in a similar helping role, this is a chance to grow your skills and build a meaningful long-term career.

What You'll Do

• Support individuals with I/DD in their daily lives, using ASL to communicate clearly, respectfully, and consistently.
• Accompany and assist clients with community access, such as errands, social outings, recreational activities, and appointments.
• Provide personal care and assistance with daily living tasks as needed, following individual support plans and safety guidelines.
• Coordinate and support medical and other essential appointments, helping individuals understand information and communicate their needs.
• Encourage and facilitate positive peer interactions, social relationships, and skills-building through structured and informal activities.

What Success Looks Like

• Within your first few months, you build trusting, respectful relationships with the individuals you support, consistently using ASL and person-centered practices.
• Clients you work with increase their participation in community activities, social events, or recreational programs that reflect their interests and goals.
• Daily routines, personal care, and appointments run smoothly, with accurate documentation and effective communication with your team and supervisors.
• You actively contribute to a supportive, team-oriented environment by sharing observations, problem-solving challenges, and collaborating to improve support plans.
