Job summary

PSI is seeking a Student Aide / 1:1 Support Aide to provide direct support to PreK–12 students who are blind, deaf, autistic, or have multiple abilities. The role collaborates with teachers and staff to support academic, vocational, independent living, and personal care needs.

Candidates must be local to Columbus, Ohio with reliable transportation. Responsibilities include supervision, emergency support, and assisting with transportation, transitions, and daily tasks in a school setting.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license is required.
• ASL fluency is required.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• 1–3 years of related support experience.
• Ability to follow school procedures and safety protocols.
• Ability to pass a federal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assist PreK–12 students who are blind, deaf, autistic, medically delicate, or have multiple abilities.
• Provide redirection and support during difficulties or behavioral challenges.
• Supervise students during camps, classroom activities, and transitions.
• Assist students on and off transportation vehicles safely.
• Escort students to different areas of the school or campus.
• Support teachers and staff with day-to-day tasks.
• Maintain a safe, respectful environment for students at all times.
