Job summary

Pressley Ridge seeks a Special Education Aide 1:1 for the School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh. The role supports a single student’s education and behavior plans, with ASL proficiency encouraged within two years. On-site, full-time position requiring safety and active student supervision throughout the day.

The Aide collaborates with teachers, documents progress, and assists with lessons, transportation, and daily routines while adhering to school policies and family-centered care.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• ASL proficiency within two years for the School for the Deaf.
• Requires a valid state driver’s license, safe driving record, and current auto insurance for positions in all schools except School for the Deaf and School for Autism.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teaching staff in implementing individual education and behavioral plans for a student.
• Support the student 1:1 in daily lessons and routine activities.
• Maintain written records and complete daily ACCESS notes.
• Communicate with the team regarding student progress and programming.
• Supervise the student during school hours and assist with transportation as needed.
• Follow safety policies and document critical incidents per program requirements.
