  • Collaborate with Site Director and Lead Instructor to evaluate programs and services
  • Design and orchestrate special events as assigned
  • Attend trainings and meetings as needed
  • Available to work nights and weekends as needed

Position: Site Instructor for Middle School Expanded Learning Programs

Reports to: Site Director

Required Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 1:30 PM-6:30 PM; Wednesday 12:00 PM-6:00 PM

Job Summary

The ASES P.R.I.D.E. Site Instructor assists the ASES P.R.I.D.E. Site Director and Lead Instructor in the preparation and implementation of ASES P.R.I.D.E. Program after-school educational curriculum and enrichment activities with a focus on academic assistance, STEAM curriculum, arts, sports, and recreation for youth grades 6 through 8.

Major Responsibilities
  • Ability to work in high energy, fun, and creative youth-focused environment
  • Prepares and successfully delivers educational, athletic, and enrichment activities based on lesson plans with a clear learning objective
  • Supports members with homework assignments & projects
  • Effectively and consistently supervises small and large groups of students
  • Individually and with team members preserves the health and safety of all children
  • Ensures that all school rules and Program rules are followed
  • Preparation and maintenance of clear and accurate attendance records and meal documentation
  • A positive role model for young people to emulate through demeanor, dress, communication, and attitude
  • Actively engages with members, fellow staff, parents, and partners using a positive and professional approach
  • Pro‑active and takes initiative in meeting the Program's needs
  • Exemplary team player and collaborates with fellow staff
  • Helps ASES P.R.I.D.E. Site Director and Lead Site Instructor to evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure that they meet stated objectives, member needs, and interests
  • Contributes to the development of professional partnerships with team members, parents, school staff, and the community
  • Designs and orchestrates special events as assigned by the Site Director
  • Adheres to Abrazar, Inc.'s employee guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Commitment to working program hours Monday through Friday
  • Attend training and meetings, as needed
  • Available to work nights and weekends, as needed
  • Performs other related assignments delegated by supervisors and administration. Must be flexible to change and willing to assist in all areas as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 18 years of age and over
  • Has an Associate's Degree or equivalent in child development/education OR passes the Westminster School District Para-educator Exam.
  • 1 or more years of supervisory experience in a youth service setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Performs excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Conduct self with professionalism, courtesy, and integrity
  • Interpersonal relations skills; having a positive attitude and using patience, tact, and respect
  • Decision making, planning, organizing, communicating, and analyzing skills required
  • Clearance of background check
  • CPR and First Aid Certified
  • Clearance of TB test
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • May be required to walk on uneven surfaces. Stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • May be required to lift equipment up to 30 lbs.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending and twisting at the waist, seeing to review and analyze reports and documents.
  • May be exposed to outdoor elements including noise and weather
  • Bending, twisting, stooping, overhead reaching, and repetitive hand/arm motion
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods. And walk quickly on occasion
  • May be exposed to outdoor elements including noise and weather
  • Other physical duties, as needed
