Job summary

Gehl Food & Beverage in California is seeking an Aseptic Robot Operator for the 3rd shift (6:00pm - 6:30am). The role requires operating and troubleshooting automated robotic and conveyor systems in an aseptic production environment, with attention to GMP, safety, and documentation.

You will manage robotic palletizing and downstream equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and support production with line jams and material replenishment. On-site role with competitive pay and benefits.

Position Overview:

The Aseptic Robot Operator (ARO) is a highly technical role responsible for the safe and efficient operation, troubleshooting, and minor maintenance of automated robotic and conveyor systems within the aseptic production environment. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.

The Aseptic Robot Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and becoming proficient in multiple pieces of equipment, including robotic systems, roller-bed conveyor systems, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) controls. The ARO ensures robots remain stocked with the required materials to support continuous production.

This role is responsible for identifying and resolving equipment stoppages, performing Autonomous Maintenance (AM), completing preventive maintenance (PM) activities, and conducting minor mechanical repairs within the scope of the operator's training and skill level. As a member of the production line team, the Aseptic Robot Operator also provides operational support as needed, including responding to line jams, replenishing cardboard and packaging materials, and assisting with other line support activities to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production.

What You'll Do
  • Follow all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), GMP, food safety, and company safety procedures.
  • Complete the 30-day onboarding and qualification program.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of aseptic production processes, product specifications, and downstream equipment.
  • Identify downstream equipment components and understand their functions.
  • Navigate Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens and operator controls.
  • Operate robotic palletizing systems, conveyor systems, and downstream equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Safely clear equipment jams, conveyor faults, and minor production stoppages.
  • Understand photo eye locations, sensor functions, and basic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Perform basic conveyor maintenance, including chain repairs, gearbox inspections, roller replacement, and conveyor belt lacing repairs.
  • Perform assigned Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and preventive maintenance (PM) tasks.
  • Perform printer operation, product changeovers, and material replenishment.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.
  • Perform line support activities as needed, including responding to line jams, replenishing cardboard and packaging materials, and supporting production operations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Effective verbal, written, and active listening communication skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and accurately follow batch sheets, production logs, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment operation, process flow, and basic troubleshooting techniques.
  • Working knowledge of package integrity standards, Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems, sanitation practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and food safety requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate, complete, and legible production records and documentation.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including basic arithmetic, measurements, and unit conversions used in a manufacturing environment.
