Job summary

Apple is seeking enthusiastic developers to join the ASE Observability team in Seattle. You will design, build, and operate core observability platforms that help engineers monitor, debug, and optimize infrastructure at scale.

The role focuses on distributed tracing, logging, and profiling, with opportunities to mentor others and lead independent research in observability. You will collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver practical, high-performance solutions for millions of Apple

Qualifications

  • Experience designing, implementing and supporting highly scalable infrastructure services.
  • 5 to 15 years of industry experience in backend distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding of core CS concepts including data structures, algorithms, and concurrent programming.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Passion for developing and testing clear, robust code.
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies and frameworks.
  • Great communication skills.

Job description

The ASE Observability team is responsible for designing, building, and operating the core observability platforms that enable engineering organizations at Apple to monitor, debug, and optimize infrastructure and systems at scale.

We develop platform solutions that provide comprehensive visibility into application performance, system health, and operational metrics across the entire technology stack. We are on a journey to continue building our next-generation observability platform with new capabilities like Distributed Tracing, Logging and Continuous profiling.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience and insight into designing, implementing and supporting highly scalable infrastructure services
  • 5 to 15 years of industry experience in building and maintaining backend distributed systems
  • Deep understanding of core computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, and concurrent programming
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical capabilities
  • Passion for developing and testing clear, robust code
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies and frameworks
  • Great communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Having built Observability platforms at scale previously is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with OpenTelemetry and OSS tools in the Observability space
  • Proficiency in one of Java, Rust is desirable
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes on Linux is a plus
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field
