Job summary

The Constellations Program at Crescent City Schools in New Orleans seeks a full-time Special Education Teacher with expertise in autism spectrum disorders to deliver individualized instruction and support for students with special needs. You will adapt lesson plans, implement evidence-based strategies, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and families to meet each student’s goals.

Qualifications

• Developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with exceptionalities.
• Creating and modifying lesson plans to accommodate learning needs including social, communication, and behavioral goals.
• Providing direct instruction in math, reading, and writing with ASD-focused strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IEPs with multidisciplinary team.
• Adapt lesson plans to meet individual student needs.
• Provide direct instruction across core subjects with differentiated strategies.
• Use visual aids, assistive tech, and sensory tools to engage students.
• Support students with challenging behaviors using data-driven approaches.
• Monitor and document progress in social, emotional, and behavioral domains.
• Collaborate with parents, speech-language pathologists, OTs, counselors, and other specialists.
• Participate in IEP and MDT meetings to review plans and progress.
• Conduct assessments and adjust instruction based on results to drive student growth.
• Maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment for students with ASD.
• Participate in professional development on autism and related disabilities.
