Qualifications

Job description

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced ASC Billing Specialist.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position purpose

Obtain timely payment for ambulatory surgery center services.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Provide and collect facility pre-pay estimates to patients
  • Interpret progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries and charge documents to determine services provided
  • Communicate with patients to verify correct demographics and coordination of benefits
  • Refer complex issues to the supervisor for review and or action
  • Provide quality service to patients
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills are required
  • MS Office experience, particularly in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Ability to type at least 30 wpm
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Basic understanding of healthcare plans
  • Be able to read and understand medical benefits
  • Bilingual is preferred
  • Medical terminology (CPT, ICD 10) knowledge
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: 2-4 years of prior insurance experience is preferred. Prior appeals experience electronically and ability to obtain claim status needed.

Requirements For Level I Status:
  • Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision
  • Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision
