A nationally recognized plaintiffs' litigation law firm is seeking an Asbestos Litigation Associate Attorney. This position offers the opportunity to advocate for individuals and families harmed by corporate negligence, particularly in asbestos-related matters. The role demands a strong commitment to plaintiff-side civil litigation, with an emphasis on personal injury, torts, or product liability. The work environment is high-stakes, fast-paced, and emotionally impactful, requiring exceptional empathy and strong client communication skills. This is a full-time role with a hybrid in-office/remote work option available based on experience and fit.
Location:
Hybrid work model available (remote work considered based on experience)
Duties:
Manage all phases of asbestos litigation, including written discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
Draft, research, and argue substantive motions.
Assist in trial proceedings as second-chair counsel.
Engage in frequent client communication, offering legal guidance and emotional support during challenging times.
Travel frequently to meet clients, attend depositions, and handle court appearances.
Requirements:
Background in plaintiff-side asbestos litigation preferred.
Experience in personal injury, medical malpractice, or product liability cases considered an asset.
Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds.
Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Availability for frequent travel as necessary.
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
Certifications:
Admission to the State Bar in the applicable jurisdiction (California preferred).
Skills:
Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Strong case management and litigation skills.
Empathy and effective communication in emotionally sensitive situations.
Organizational skills to manage multiple active cases efficiently.
Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
