Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Cinnaminson, NJ seeks a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) with on-the-job training provided. Responsibilities include preparation and analysis of asbestos materials using PLM, PCM and TEM, plus QC procedures and data entry into LIMS.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in geology or related science is a plus, U.S. work authorization, and 0–1 year of asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM experience. Shift Tue-Sat 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., training shift Mon-Fri 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is a plus.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
• Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred.
• Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting.
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude.
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures.
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system.
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones.
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager.
