EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Cinnaminson, NJ is hiring a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) to assist in preparing and analyzing materials for asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and TEM.

On-the-job training is provided, and the position includes data entry into the LIMS system and routine QA/QC tasks. The ideal candidate will have 0–1 year of asbestos analysis experience, be able to distinguish colors for analysis, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related science is a plus.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
• Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred.
• Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting.
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude.
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance.

Responsabilités

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
