Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center is seeking an Admissions Review Specialist to join our Corporate Admissions team. You will review clinical referrals for substance use treatment, assess medical and behavioral health documentation, and determine the appropriate level of care.

You will collaborate with Admissions Coordinators and facility teams to ensure timely clinical decision-making and a smooth admissions process.

Qualifications

• Experience reviewing clinical documentation and medical records.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, behavioral health diagnoses, substance use disorders, and clinical presentation.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred; Associate's degree with relevant experience will also be considered.
• Experience working in substance use disorder treatment strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with ASAM Criteria preferred.
• Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Review referral documentation and clinical records to determine appropriate level of care.
• Collaborate with Admissions Coordinators to support the admissions process and answer clinical questions.
• Respond promptly to referral sources regarding clinical documentation and admission status.
• Assist in reviewing medical, psychiatric, and substance use history for incoming referrals.
• Work closely with facility leadership, nursing, and clinical teams to facilitate appropriate admissions.
• Participate in regular meetings with facility clinical and medical leadership.
• Maintain a strong understanding of ASAM Criteria and evidence-based treatment recommendations.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation while maintaining compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.
