Job summary

Oxford Hills School District (MSAD#17) seeks qualified Substitute School Nurses to support our 8 schools across the district. Substitute nurses promote the health and safety of students and staff by providing primary health services, managing chronic and acute conditions, and responding to emergencies in the absence of the regular school nurse.

Responsibilities include administering medications, providing emergency health care, promoting wellness, and coordinating with families.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited LPN or RN program
• Current Maine LPN or RN license
• Current BLS certification
• CHRC (Criminal History Record Check) with fingerprinting, as required by the Maine Department of Education
• Minimum of one year of pediatric nursing experience preferred (or equivalent experience in acute care, public/community health, or home health care settings)
• Knowledge of childhood illnesses and chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizures)
• Ability to perform skilled nursing tasks such as: Catheterization, Suctioning, Gastrostomy tube feedings, Insulin pump management, Nebulizer treatments

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments in compliance with state regulations and district policies
• Provide emergency and routine health care to students, staff, and visitors
• Promote student wellness and disease prevention
• Act as a liaison between home and school regarding student health concerns
• Deliver care based on 504 Plans, IHCPs, and Emergency Care Plans
• Maintain accurate documentation in the district's electronic health record system
• Support communicable disease prevention and awareness efforts
• Conduct health education and provide guidance to students and families
• Assist with health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.)
