Job description

Position Overview

ArtsCrew Program Assistant – Brown Arts Institute (BAI), a university‑wide research enterprise founded in 2021 that commissions, presents, and supports new artistic work across campus and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, executing, and evaluating programs and events.
  • Provide hands‑on support in the following focus areas: creative technologies, exhibitions, marketing & communications, production, programming, visitor services, and other administrative tasks.
  • Accept flexible scheduling averaging 5–20 hours per week as operational needs dictate.
  • Support events across BAI venues and occasionally on other parts of Brown University’s campus.
  • Serve as ushers for events when required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Interest and passion for a career in arts, culture, or entertainment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Competencies (some role‑dependent)

  • Effective communication and collaborative spirit.
  • Foundational understanding of arts operations; prior familiarity is a plus, but not required.
  • Eagerness to engage in event support roles.
  • Willingness to learn technical skills such as ticketing software or basic production equipment.
  • Commitment to professional development within the arts.
  • Proactive engagement and attention to detail.
  • Production or preparator shifts must be able to lift 40 pounds; all positions may require extended standing.
