Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley is seeking an Art Specialist to oversee safety and supervision of Club members while delivering high-yield art activities and programs under the direction of the Program Director. This part-time role supports youth development through creative programming.

Responsibilities include curriculum-based programming, activity facilitation, and guiding volunteers. If 21 or older, there may be transportation duties; training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Passion for working with youth.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite and comfortable with new technology.
  • If 21 or older, valid driver’s license and eligibility to drive Club vehicles.
  • Safety oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, organizes, and facilitates programs and activities using a formal curriculum.
  • Directly runs programming and high-yield activities in the assigned area.
  • Fosters creativity and self-expression through various arts (fine, digital, performing, applied).
  • Plans and coordinates art exhibitions to celebrate youth achievements.
  • Administers outcome measurement tools.
  • Delivers programs with energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.

Details

This is a part-time position, working approximately 10-25 hours per week, Monday-Friday, Paid training and orientation are required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Art Specialist - is responsible for the safety and supervision of Club members. Under the direction of the Program Director, the Youth Development Specialist delivers quality programs and high-yield art specific activities to Club members. Utilizes the organization’s mission, vision, and values to set members up for success and provide an outcome-driven Club experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to program development and facilitation, program area safety and cleanliness, and providing guidance to volunteers. If 21 or older, responsibilities may include transporting members.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but is not limited to:

  • Develops, organizes, and facilitates programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum.
  • Directly runs programming and high-yield activities in assigned area.
  • Foster creativity and self-expression among youth by encouraging them to explore diverse artistic mediums including but not limited to fine arts, digital arts, performing arts, applied arts.
  • Plan and coordinate art exhibitions and displays to celebrate youth’s achievement and showcase work.
  • Administers outcome measurement tools.
  • Delivers programs with an enthusiastic, high-energy, positive attitude
Health & Safety
  • Ensures program areas remain safe, clean, and organized.
  • Adheres to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley’s policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making.
  • Maintains Club equipment and property to ensure they stay in good working order.
  • Uses positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues.
  • Utilizes active supervision techniques when working with Club members.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley.
  • Promotes an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
  • May include assisting with food program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS - Required
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Passion for working with youth.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to Club’s changing needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and be comfortable adapting to new technology.
  • If 21 or older, maintains a valid driver’s license and meets eligibility requirements to drive Club vehicles.

  • Ability to earn and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING
