Job summary

The Arts Specialist at Boys & Girls Clubs Of The Valley provides safe and supervised arts programming for Club members at Downtown Phoenix school sites, under the direction of the Program Director. Responsibilities include program development, area safety, and guidance to volunteers to ensure an outcome-driven Club experience.

Under 21 or older, responsibilities may include transporting members. This is a part-time role offering 10–25 hours weekly with paid training and orientation and

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Passion for working with youth.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to Club’s changing needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills.
• Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and be comfortable with new technology.
• If 21 or older, maintains a valid driver’s license and meets eligibility requirements to drive Club vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Develops, organizes, and facilitates programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum.
• Directly runs programming and high-yield activities in assigned area.
• Foster creativity and self-expression among youth by encouraging diverse artistic mediums.
• Plan and coordinate art exhibitions and displays to celebrate youth’s achievement and showcase work.
• Administers outcome measurement tools.
• Delivers programs with an enthusiastic, high-energy, positive attitude.
• Plan and lead engaging art activities for youth in grades K-6; encourage creativity and skill development.
• Using a variety of mediums - paint, crayons, clay, drawing.
• Ensures program areas remain safe, clean, and organized.
• Adheres to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley’s policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making.
• Maintains Club equipment and property in good order.
• Uses positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues.
• Utilizes active supervision techniques when working with Club members.
• Supports and mirrors the culture, mission, values, and core beliefs of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley.
• Promotes an inclusive, welcoming environment that embraces diversity.
• May include assisting with food program.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

The Arts Specialist is responsible for the safety and supervision of Club members. Under the direction of the Program Director, the Youth Development Specialist delivers quality programs and high-yield art specific activities to Club members. Utilizes the organization’s mission, vision, and values to set mbers up for success and provide an outcome-driven Club experience. Responsibilities include but are not limited to program development and facilitation, program area safety and cleanliness, and providing guidance to volunteers. If 21 or older, responsibilities may include transporting members.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES: Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develops, organizes, and facilitates programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS - Required

• Must be at least 18 years old.

Recommended:

• Direct youth programming experience.
• Ability to earn and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.

WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING:
