Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with BGCAZ to provide arts-focused enrichment for students in grades K-6. The CSLP student worker aids in facilitating enriching arts experiences and may mentor youth under supervision. Enrolled GCU students with the required GPA may apply.

Position is part-time (≤20 hours/week during academic year) with potential summer work. Transportation is required; a second language is a plus. End date: June 30, 2027.

Position Summary / Purpose:

Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents’ needs. GCU maintains a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Valley - AZ (BGCAZ) located at 4309 E. Belleview Street, Bldg. 14, Phoenix, AZ, 85008. BGCAZ fosters academic excellence, strong character, leadership development, healthy lifestyles, and workforce preparedness.

The CSLP student worker’s work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of BGCAZ; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring). If eligible, CSLP student workers can work during summer (i.e., May - August).

CSLP: This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, "Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need." These services must be open and accessible to the community. As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

Qualifications:

• Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
• Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Previous Mentoring a plus.
• Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Experience/Education:

• Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
• Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
• Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
• You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
