Job summary

The Town of Mooresville is seeking an Arts & Events Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and evaluate Town-sponsored events, performing arts programs, receptions, grand openings, and employee recognition events, collaborating with Town departments, vendors, volunteers, and community groups to ensure engaging experiences.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Communications, Event Management, Hospitality, Tourism, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience planning and implementing large-scale special events.
  • Experience contracting with performing artists is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate community-wide special events, receptions, groundbreakings, grand openings, ribbon cuttings, and similar functions.
  • Manage performing arts rentals from initial inquiry through invoicing, including responding to inquiries and coordinating venue tours.
  • Manage the Mooresville Performing Arts Center and Liberty Park calendars, including performances, rentals, special events, and community activities.
  • Coordinate scheduling for the Joe V. Knox Auditorium at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in collaboration with the facility manager.
  • Coordinate and administer the community events permit program.
  • Coordinate and implement employee recognition activities and events as requested.
  • Coordinate with event contractors, vendors, performers, volunteers, and other partners.
  • Attend technical week rehearsals to supervise and assist with technical aspects of performances.
  • Assist guest designers and artists with technical matters.
  • Supervise and assist with set and stage construction and oversight.
  • Orient facility renters to venues, with an emphasis on technical requirements and safety.
  • Monitor lighting, sound, rigging, and other technical equipment and arrange for repair or replacement as needed.
  • Recruit, train, and assign student, volunteer, and paid staff for individual shows.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, volunteers, contractors, vendors, and the public.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

About the Role

The Arts & Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating Town-sponsored community-wide special events, performing arts programs, receptions, grand openings, groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, employee recognition events, and other community functions. This position plays a key role in creating engaging experiences for the community while coordinating with Town departments, vendors, contractors, volunteers, performers, and community organizations to ensure successful events and programs.

The position also coordinates performing arts rentals and venue calendars, oversees the community events permitting process, and supports the technical and operational aspects of performances at Town facilities. The Arts & Events Coordinator supervises intermittent Arts & Events staff and volunteers and reports to the Experience & Engagement Manager.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, volunteers, contractors, vendors, and the public
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
